Jake Locker Wins Titans QB Job: Music City Miracles Reacts

The Tennessee Titans declared that the future is now in Tennessee, by declaring second year quarterback Jake Locker as their starter on Monday.

Locker beat out veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck for the starting job.

Needless to say, the decision to start Locker is begin news for the Titans, and exciting for Titans fans. The folks over at Music City Miracles, SB Nation’s Titans blog, have been talking about the news throughout the day.

The news certainly excited the fans there this morning, immediately after the news was made public.

Although an official announcement is expected later today from the team, it appears that they have decided the future is now and there is no use in further delaying. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best thing for the team, and that Locker will take the news and run with it.

Titans owner Bud Adams also offered his comments, expressing his excitement for Locker. The folks at Music City Miracles offered some very good points on Adams’ comments.

Some people are trying to turn this into when Bud mandated that Vince Young be the starter, but it is totally different. Remember, Bud had a man crush on Vince. Floyd Reese and Jeff Fisher wanted to pick Matt Leinart, but Bud told them they were picking Young.

That is not the case this time. While Bud might be more excited about seeing what Locker can do, he is not nearly as invested in Locker as he was VY. The coaching staff made this call.

For the latest on all things Titans, be sure to head over to Music City Miracles and join the discussion.
