Guard Eric Steinbach announced on Wednesday that he is retiring from the NFL. The nine-year veteran guard had signed with the Miami Dolphins in July after spending the last five years with the Cleveland Browns.

In his NFL career, Steinbach played in 125 games, starting 124 of them. He missed only three games in his entire career, one in his rookie season and two games 2008 with the Browns.

Steinbach was drafted with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played his college football at the University of Iowa. While at Iowa, Steinbach was named first-team all Big Ten twice, was named conference offensive lineman of the year in 2002, and was a consensus All-American the same year.
