Patriots Give Kyle Love A Contract Extension Through 2013
The Patriots and Kyle Love have agreed on a deal that will keep the starting defensive tackle in New England for another season.
Love was an undrafted free agent in 2010, but played well in a starting role opposite Vince Wilfork on the Pats' front line in his sophomore season in the league. He was already under contract to play the upcoming season for $540,000, but New England decided to tack on an extra year to the exclusive-rights free agent's contract, a deal that will give him a maximum of $3.1 million with a $500,000 signing bonus. Love is expected to be a starter for the Patriots this year.
The former Mississippi State player started 13 games in his second season in the league, starting every game after Week 4. The 310-pounder recorded three sacks and continued to play in a starting role all through the Patriots’ playoff run that led all the way to the Super Bowl.
