A day after Graham Gano appeared to have won the Redskins' position battle at kicker, Washington has signed Billy Cundiff, who was released by the Ravens Monday, and released Gano.
Redskins Swap Kickers: Billy Cundiff In, Graham Gano Out
Billy Cundiff is in at kicker in Washington, with Graham Gano out just a day after he appeared to have beaten out Neil Rackers for the starting position.

On cut day, Washington released veteran Neil Rackers while keeping Gano, who has been the team's kicker since 2009. Meanwhile, just down the road in Baltimore, the Ravens had decided to keep Justin Tucker instead of the 2010 Pro Bowler Cundiff. Cundiff, who drew the ire of Baltimore fans after shanking a 32-yarder to tie the game in the waning seconds of the AFC Championship game, is a dependable nine-year veteran, but lost the job to the undrafted rookie who went 5-for-5 in the Ravens' first three preseason games.
With Cundiff on the market, the Redskins acted quickly, signing the ex-Raven while releasing Gano. It’s difficult to tell who is the better kicker sheerly based off statistics, but the Redskins coaches apparently didn’t take long to make up their minds.
