Kyle Cook Is Injured; Bengals Looking At Jeff Faine

Cincinnati Bengals center Kyle Cook is injured and, while nothing is confirmed regarding the length of time he’ll be out, the team has decided to bring veteran center Jeff Faine in for a tryout.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been able to count on Kyle Cook as their starting center for the past 66 regular season games, but it sounds as though that streak could end soon. Cook suffered a foot injury last Thursday and, while initial indications were that it wasn't serious, the Bengals seem to be making contingency plans.

The Bengals are bringing in veteran center Jeff Faine on Tuesday, according to Joe Reedy, while Cook sees a specialist to find out just how serious his injury is.

Cook suffered a foot injury in Thursday's 27-13 loss to the Packers last Thursday but did play most of the game. He was in a boot on Friday but indicated that it was nothing serious. He was not in a boot on Sunday but was not in locker room during the team's media period on Monday.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said after Monday's practice that Cook was visiting a specialist and that he would not play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Colts. Undrafted rookie Trevor Robinson was taking snaps with the first team at center on Monday.

Reedy reports that “indications are that he will miss a large amount of time,” but that’s about the only diagnosis available at the time -- at least until Cook returns from the specialist with a more clear status regarding the injured foot.
