The Atlanta Falcons released backup quarterback Chris Redman and signed quarterback Luke McCown on Tuesday. McCown, who was recently released by the New Orleans Saints, has played in 20 games in his NFL career, making nine starts, throwing for 2,035 yards and nine touchdowns with 14 interceptions. McCown was originally a fourth-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Falcons Swap Chris Redman With Luke McCown
The Atlanta Falcons released backup quarterback Chris Redman and signed quarterback Luke McCown on Tuesday.


Redman has been with the Atlanta Falcons since 2007. In his NFL career, Redman has thrown for 3,179 yards with 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Redman was originally a third-round pick in the 2000 NFL Draft for the Baltimore Ravens.
This decision comes ahead of the Falcons' preseason finale on Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
