Bengals Ink Veteran C Jeff Faine

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed free agent center Jeff Faine, the team's official Twitter account announced Wednesday. Faine, a 10-year veteran, tried out for the organization on Tuesday.

Faine (6'3, 291 pounds) spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who released the journeyman lineman in March. During his NFL tenure, Faine has made 117 career starts playing for the Bucs', Cleveland Browns (2003-05) and New Orleans Saints ('06-07).

In ‘03, the Browns made Faine their first-round selection in the NFL Draft, and then traded him in ‘06 to the Saints where he was named as a Pro Bowl alternate in ‘07.

Faine is expected to add depth, or possibly be a starter, for the Bengals offensive line, which could be without starting center Kyle Cook for awhile. Cook is recovering from a foot injury that he suffered in last Thursday's preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers.
