Despite playing with second- and third-string players, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a solid outing in his one quarter of play against the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday night.
Ryan Tannehill Survives Behind Backups
Tannehill went up against Cowboys third-string quarterback Stephen McGee, completing 6-of-8 passes for 41 yards, while McGee went just 2-for-8 for 10 yards in the first quarter. Tannehill led the Dolphins all the way down to the 3-yard line, but Miami ended up settling for a field goal.
The targets that Tannehill is throwing to are none other than the likes of Legedu Naanee, Marlon Moore and Marcus Thigpen, plus several other wide receivers with whom fans are probably not familiar. Naanee is the leading receiver of that group, with a pair of receptions for 19 yards. He was targeted four times.
Tannehill also has avoided being sacked while playing behind a group of offensive linemen that are unlikely to survive past Friday, when NFL teams must cut down their roster to 53 players.
