Amobi Okoye is working on deal to return to the Chicago Bears after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. Despite signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Bucs over the offseason, it looks like Okoye is returning the Bears, who he had success with as a reserve last season.

Okoye couldn’t stick with the Bucs because he couldn’t stay on the field long enough to earn his spot. Bucs rookie head coach Greg Schiano seems to have lost patience with Okoye, who underwent a knee scope in June and missed the last three preseason games.

As for the Bears, they only have one healthy defensive tackle in Henry Melton, so they were in need of depth in that area as well. Matt Toeaina, Stephen Paea and Brian Price are just a few who have been injured recently.
