Russell Okung’s Injury Not Believed To Be Major

Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung received some good news Monday morning when his knee injury was diagnosed as a simple bone bruise, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

The oft-injured blindside protector limped off the field during Seattle's final drive of Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and didn't return.

By avoiding ligament damage, it appears likely that Okung will be able to play through the ailment and be on the field this Sunday for the Seahawks' home opener against the Dallas Cowboys. (If he can handle the pain, that is.)

This prognosis should come as music to Russell Wilson's ears, as the rookie signal caller now will most likely have Okung covering his back from quarterback head hunter DeMarcus Ware. Then again, the third-year lineman was struggling before going down with the injury, so perhaps Ware will have his way no matter who is lined up across from him.

If Okung is for some reason unable to go, journeyman Frank Omiyale is expected to take his place in the starting lineup.
