Atlanta Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes will miss the rest of the season with an achilles injury, according to Jason La Canfora. Grimes left the game in the fourth quarter of the Falcons' 40-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs with what appeared to be a calf injury, further testing proved the injury was more severe than originally thought.

Grimes is coming off a season where he recorded 49 tackles and one interceptions. In his five-year career, after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Shippensburg College in 2007, Grimes has recorded a total of 254 tackles, with 13 interceptions and 56 passes defended. He was playing this season under a franchise tag. The Atlanta Falcons would likely start cornerback Dunta Robinson to replace Brent Grimes.

The timing of this injury does not bode well for the Falcons. Atlanta is scheduled to play Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football next week.
