Golden Tate Not Expecting Fine For Hit On Sean Lee

Tate doesn’t feel as if the hit was as big of a deal as it has been made out to be. The league office will have the final word on if it was or not.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate sat down with KJR in Seattle to discuss the block he laid on the Dallas Cowboys' Sean Lee during Sunday's win over the Cowboys.

To everyone watching on television, it was one of the more epic blocks you’ll probably ever see. But apparently, it wasn’t all it’s been hyped up to be. At least, not to Tate.

“I don’t think I hit him as hard as it looked, to be honest. I felt fine. The comparison I gave was any time you hit a baseball bat square, you don’t really feel it that much, or hitting a perfect drive. That was the feeling I got, kind of. It didn’t hurt me, my neck feels fine, I’m not very sore today. So I made it out of that one safely.”

But will Tate’s pocketbook make it out safely as well? The hit could possibly earn Tate a fine from the league’s office if it is seen as unnecessary and/or illegal. But Tate doesn’t see that happening either. He hasn’t heard from the league office - yet.

“... Praying that I don’t. ...I never have intentions on injuring a player. Just kind of caught up in the moment and it was a big block that gave us some momentum and helped us out. But I haven’t heard anything from the league, but if I do I’m sure everyone will find out quickly. Hopefully I don’t.”

Tate added that he doesn’t feel that he did anything wrong with the hit and he made light of the fact that Lee thinks it would be a different story if the two of them squared up against one another one-on-one.
