AFC West Injury Report: Darrius Heyward-Bey Hospitalized Overnight

Darrius Heyward-Bey suffered the most severe injury of the players in the AFC West on Sunday, but none of the four teams escaped without some issues.

Presswire

The NFL injury reports won't look great for the AFC West teams next weekend, as a few significant injuries popped up on Sunday afternoon. The most significant was that of Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, but indications are that good news is on its way following his scary neck injury.

Heyward-Bey was taken off the field on a cart after being sandwiched by a pair of Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs, but the wideout was said to be in stable condition on Sunday night -- though the Raiders decided to play it safe, anyway, as he was kept in the hospital for observation.

Other Raiders injuries to watch going forward include cornerback Shawntae Spencer as he missed Sunday's game with a foot injury, wide receiver Juron Criner with an ankle injury and tight end Brandon Myers as he deals with a concussion.

The Denver Broncos had a few injury issues of their own on Sunday afternoon as running back Willis McGahee was forced to the sidelines with a rib injury and tight end Jacob Tamme suffered a potentially serious groin injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost a few of their offensive weapons on Sunday afternoon, as running back Peyton Hillis left early with an ankle injury while offensive dynamo Dexter McCluster was sidelined with a shoulder issues -- only adding to their extremely long injury report.

The San Diego Chargers aren't suffering quite as much as the rest of their conference, however, as cornerback Shareece Wright was the only player that missed their game this weekend while Ryan Mathews and Antonio Gates were both able to play.
