Chiefs Vs. Saints, Week 3: Kansas City Win ‘Changes Outlook Of Season’

In a battle between two teams desperate for their first win, the Kansas City Chiefs prevailed over the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome on Sunday. The Chiefs rode a great second-half performance to victory, coming from behind while down 24-6 to steal a 27-24 win in overtime, their first of the season. It was in stark contrast to the first two weeks of football, when they lost by 34 combined points en route to an 0-2 start to 2012.

Chiefs blog Arrowhead Pride called it a season-changing win, bringing hope to the fans after a terrible first two weeks:

From a fan perspective, this is so much bigger than one game. This changes the outlook of the season. Another loss and we would be standing on the ledge, if you weren’t already there before. This victory completely changes the way I look at the season. The Chiefs can beat good teams. The Chiefs are not out of it. There is hope.

And that’s what this is really about -- hope. This win gives everyone, including the players on the team, hope that they can turn it around. Starting 0-2 and making the playoffs is something that has been done twice since 2008. Starting 0-3 and making the playoffs hasn’t been done in 14 years. That’s a big difference.

Kansas City will have a chance to up its win total to two when it faces the San Diego Chargers next Sunday in its first divisional game of the season. New Orleans will seek its first win next weekend against the Green Bay Packers.
