NFC North injury report: Lions mum on Matt Stafford’s status

Lions remain silent on the status of quarterback Matt Stafford.

Don McPeak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Week 3 of the NFL regular season is officially in the books, and the four NFC North teams -- Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers -- are currently assessing their injury reports in preparation for Week 4.

The biggest health news coming out of Week 3 was the hamstring of Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford. Detroit's signal caller had an MRI on his sore right leg Monday and told the local media that he's going "to take it day to day and see how it responds to treatment."

A report from ProFootballTalk.com said Stafford is still expected to play this Sunday against the Vikings (1 p.m. ET). If he can't go, backup Shaun Hill will get the start in his place.

Meanwhile, tight end Tony Scheffler (knee) and outside linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) could return to practice this week, while safety Louis Delmas (knee) remains out.

The Lions' Week 4 opponent, the Vikings, also dealt with an injury to an impact player. Defensive end Jared Allen suffered neck spasms in Sunday's 24-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. It's still unclear how that will impact Allen's production, but he's still expected to play against Detroit.

That good news is a bit overshadowed by the health of safety Mistral Raymond, who's expected to miss significant time after being carted off the field Sunday with an ankle injury. Raymond did not suffer a fracture or ligament damage, but the injury will keep him out for awhile.

Other Minnesota injury news revolves around defensive end D'Aundre Reed (calf), who's day to day after not playing Sunday, and outside linebacker Erin Henderson, who's still recovering from a concussion and needs to pass his league-mandated exams to return to the field.

Meanwhile, the Bears are expecting running back Matt Forte (sprained ankle) to return to practice after missing Sunday's 23-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams. An update on tight end Evan Rodriguez (knee) was not given Monday.

The Packers did not report any injuries after Monday night's 14-12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
