Golden Tate Injury Likely To Cost Him 2 Weeks

Golden Tate grew as a receiver last season for the Seahawks and looked to have a bigger role in the offense this season before his injury setback.

The Seattle Seahawks will be without the services of wide receiver Golden Tate for their season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Tate suffered an injury to his right knee in the final preseason game against the Oakland Raiders and his recovery time is said to be two weeks, according to Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times.

Tate’s status is uncertain, though. Coach Pete Carroll did not answer questions after practice, and NFL teams do not release injury reports until Wednesday when playing on Sunday.

However, a source indicated Friday that Tate likely would be out at least two weeks with the knee injury. Expect Braylon Edwards to get more opportunities were Tate available.

Tate is entering his third year out of Notre Dame and has proven to be a serviceable wideout while adding his special brand of explosiveness to the Seahawks’ special teams unit as a returner. As a receiver, Tate recorded 35 catches for 382 yards and three touchdowns in 2011 after only playing in 11 games as a rookie with 21 receptions for 227 yards in 2010.
