Mike Kafka Draws Workout From Patriots, According To Report

Looking for a possible third-string quarterback the New England Patriots worked out free agent Mike Kafka on Tuesday, CBS Sports' NFL Insider Jason La Canfora is reporting. On Friday, Kafka was released by the Philadelphia Eagles as a part of the 53-man roster cuts.

Kafka, who lost the Eagles' No. 3 quarterback job to Trent Edwards, is a three-year veteran that was picked in the fourth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Last season, the 6'3", 225-pound signal caller played in just four games completing 11-of-16 attempts for 107 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.

If the Patriots decided they like Kafka and decided to sign him, he would back up Tom Brady and backup Ryan Mallett. During the 53-man roster cuts, New England cut Brian Hoyer.
