Jimmy Raye III is leaving the San Diego Chargers to become the new vice president of football operations for the Indianapolis Colts, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter.
Colts hire Chargers’ Jimmy Raye as VP of football operations
Raye was considered a candidate to become the Chargers general manager, but will instead fill the void in Indianapolis left by Tom Telesco.

Raye, 44, played just two games in the NFL as a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams in 1991 before his career as a player ended. Five years later he became a scout for the San Diego Chargers and was promoted four years later to become the team's director of college scouting.
In 2008, Raye was promoted to become the director of player personnel for the Chargers and was considered a candidate to become the team’s new general manager earlier in the month, but instead the team chose to hire Tom Telesco, the vice president of football operations for the Colts. To fill the position, the teams will make a swap of sorts, as Raye will go to Indianapolis to fill Telesco’s old position.
Raye's father, Jimmy Raye II, has served as a coach in the NFL for more than three decades and is currently an offensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
