NFC Championship Game, 49ers vs. Falcons injury report

The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons have some injury concerns with notable defensive linemen, but are relatively healthy otherwise.

The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons hit the practice field on Wednesday in preparation of their NFC Championship matchup on Sunday, and both teams have published their official participation reports.

There are few surprises, but plenty of big names worth noting. While the 49ers have guys like Aldon Smith and Tarell Brown showing up with shoulder injuries, their issues are considered minor nicks more than anything. The injury to Justin Smith is far more noteworthy.

Smith partially tore a triceps tendon and missed time at the end of the regular season. Initial impressions put him out of the playoffs, but he was there against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, with his arm in a brace. He played 91 percent of San Francisco's defensive snaps in that game, and played well.

Still, it’s the kind of injury that could be aggravated if not tended to properly. The 49ers listed him as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

For Atlanta, they are concerned about defensive end John Abraham and his ankle injury. He re-tweaked the injury in the team's divisional round matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, and sat out the second half. The team claimed the move was "precautionary," but given that Atlanta's season was on the line, it was clearly significant.

Atlanta listed Abraham as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, along with two others. Below, the full lists:

49ers: LIMITED: CB Tarell Brown (shoulder), RB Bruce Miller (shoulder), LB Aldon Smith (shoulder), FULL: G Alex Boone (knee), LB NaVorro Bowman (shoulder), TE Garrett Celek (foot), CB Chris Culliver (knee), S Dashon Goldson (shin), LB Tavares Gooden (knee), RB Frank Gore (knee), LB Clark Haggans (shoulder), G Mike Iupati (shoulder), DT Justin Smith (elbow, triceps), LB Patrick Willis (shoulder)

Falcons: LIMITED: DE John Abraham (ankle), DT Jonathan Babineaux (shoulder), CB Christopher Owens (hamstring). FULL: S William Moore (hand), LB Stephen Nicholas (foot).
