The Baltimore Ravens linebacker will hang it up after this season.

An emotional Lewis informed his teammates on Wednesday, as the team prepped for a Wild Card Weekend game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Lewis, 37, tore his right triceps earlier in the season. Baltimore placed him on injured reserve with the designation to return. He was activated a week ago, but did not play in the team’s season finale. He played in six games this season.
The veteran linebacker is eligible to return for Sunday’s playoff game, but it was unclear as of Wednesday if he would be able to play this week.
The Ravens drafted Lewis in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft. He’s been a stalwart of one of the league’s top defenses for 17 seasons. During his career, Lewis has been selected for 13 Pro Bowls, two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and the 2000 Super Bowl MVP.
