Ray Lewis retires, should be healthy for Ravens-Colts Wild Card game

Ray Lewis indicated that he should be available to suit up for what will likely be his last home game with the Ravens.

Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis told teammates that he would retire at the end of the 2013 postseason, a playoffs run that he will likely be on the field for. Lewis sat out the majority of the 2012 regular season with a torn tricep, but was activated for the postseason.

Longform: Ray Lewis, the influence of an athlete

His status for Sunday's game against the Colts was up in the air and he had not confirmed if he was ready to play. On Wednesday, he indicated that he will likely give it a go in what will almost certainly be his final home game:

Lewis has been the anchor of a dominant Ravens defense throughout his 17-year career in Baltimore. There was already plenty of drama with the Colts, former inhabitants of Baltimore, coming to town on Sunday. The announcement by Lewis that he’ll likely be ready to suit up one last time in front of the home crowd should make it an unforgettable Sunday afternoon in Baltimore.
