For those who haven’t heard, the linebacker was duped into having an online relationship was a fake individual. Te’o’s family was also affected by this. His mother, Ottilia, is expected to give her side of the story.
The special is set to air on Thursday on Couric’s talk show, Katie. Manti Te’o had spoken out with Jeremy Schaap on ESPN, though he declined to be filmed for the interview -- it was purely audible. The details, however skewed, have been revealing themselves slowly but surely.
The opportunity for Couric to dig a little deeper may shed some more light on the subject. There have been a lot of questions that remain unanswered. Given Te’o’s future in football, this could affect -- or not affect -- his NFL draft stock as we look toward April.
