Super Bowl 2013: Torrey Smith says Ravens playing for more than Ray Lewis

The second-year wide receiver said it’s not all about Lewis in this playoff run.

Ray Lewis might be the loudest reason the Baltimore Ravens want to win a Super Bowl, but he's not the only reason.

Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith said Monday that the team doesn't want to just win a Super Bowl because their emotional leader, Lewis, is retiring after the game:

"We wanted to be here before (Lewis) said he wanted to retire," receiver Torrey Smith told reporters Monday. "We all want to win a Super Bowl. You know, Ray isn't the only guy here. He has one (ring) and we all know that this is his last shot at it. Ed Reed has never been to the Super Bowl. Terrell Suggs has never been to one. Anquan Boldin has never won one, he's been there. These are (who) I play for every day, we play for each other."

Lewis is set to retire after playing 17 seasons in the NFL. He played in just six games before tearing his bicep this season, but he returned to help the Ravens make a playoff run.

Despite losing a step this postseason, Lewis is still racking up the tackles. In three games, Lewis has 44 total tackles. He had six solo tackles and eight assisted tackles in Sunday's AFC Championship game win over the New England Patriots.

Smith is in his second season and his second playoff run. He's been one of quarterback Joe Flacco's favorite targets over the last two years. In 16 games this year, Smith caught 49 passes for 855 yards and eight touchdowns. He has two touchdowns in the playoffs this year.
