Marc Trestman not talking on Bill Callahan Super Bowl sabotage

New Bears head coach Marc Trestman, who was the Raiders’ offensive coordinator when they reached Super Bowl XXXVII, refuses to comment on the Bill Callahan sabotage situation.

New Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman, who was a part of Bill Callahan's Oakland Raiders staff during their run to Super Bowl XXXVII, refused comment when approached about former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown's allegations that Callahan knowingly hindered the Raiders' chances at winning the Super Bowl.

Brown has appeared on Sirius XM's NFL Radio and NBC Sports Network's Pro Football Talk to claim that Callahan changed the Raiders' game plan for their Super Bowl matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the last moment in order to sabotage Oakland and make it easier for Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, who was the Raiders' coach the year before, to win the game.

Trestman, who was approached at the 2013 Senior Bowl, cited the Bears’ media-blackout policy at the event as the reason for declining to comment, according to CSN Bay Area.

Trestman first served as quarterbacks coach for the Raiders under Gruden and was later promoted to offensive coordinator the year Oakland reached the Super Bowl and then-Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon was named NFL MVP.

Also on that Oakland Raiders staff was new Bears offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer, who served as offensive line coach for the Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, who was Gannon and Callahan's quarterbacks coach.
