Jaguars’ GM search: No decision until next week

Jacksonville Jaguars' owner Shad Khan will not make a decision on a new general manager until at least next week, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

The Jaguars are looking to replace former general manager Gene Smith, who was fired on Monday.

Khan has already interviewed a handful of candidates, including David Caldwell, the director of player personnel for the Atlanta Falcons, Tom Gamble, the director of player personnel for the San Francisco 49ers, and New York Giants' director of college scouting Marc Ross.

The Jaguars are coming off of their worst season in franchise history. Jacksonville went just 2-14 while it battled through various injuries, including one to franchise running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

The Jaguars allowed 444 points this season, the most in franchise history.

Smith had been the general manager of the Jaguars since 2009. Under his watch, the Jaguars went 22-42. They never made the playoffs with Smith as the general manager.
