Two former Philadelphia Eagles have endorsed Jon Gruden to be the next coach of the team. Former coach Dick Vermeil and former quarterback Ron Jaworski each said Gruden would be an excellent choice to rebuild the team.

The Eagles haven’t reached out to Jon Gruden, according to Ron Jaworski.

Vermeil aired his support Tuesday:
“My choice would be Jon Gruden,” Vermeil told 94 WIP’s Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow Tuesday afternoon. “... I just think he’s a helluva of football coach, and I don’t want him to make the mistake I made, to wait too long to go back. I just think he’s a helluva football coach and a great personality.”
Jaworski said he and Gruden have talked about the possibility of Gruden landing in Philadelphia. However, Jaworski also said that the Eagles haven't reached out to the former coach of the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gruden, who is an analyst for ESPN, last coached in the NFL in 2008 with the Buccaneers. In 2002, his first season with the Bucs, Gruden led Tampa Bay to a 12-4 record and a Super Bowl victory. But Gruden couldn’t replicate that success in the next six seasons.
After the Super Bowl win, Gruden led the Bucs to the playoffs twice. Each time resulted in a first-round loss.
Before he landed in Tampa Bay, Gruden coached the Raiders for four seasons. After going 8-8 in each of his first two seasons, he led the Oakland to the AFC Championship Game in 2000 and into the Divisional round in 2001.
