After President Obama said he would consider changing the name of the Washington Redskins, a San Francisco design company held a contest to see who could come up with the best new name and logo for the franchise.
Design contest offers alternatives for Washington Redskins nickname
A California-based design company held a contest to rename and rebrand Dan Snyder’s NFL team. SB Nation’s own Hogs Haven took part.

After thousands of votes were cast online, a Washington Warriors idea was named the winner. It was designed by Serbian freelance designer Milan Milosevic. The new logo kept the same burgundy and gold colors with the Pentagon enclosing the Washington Monument.
SB Nation and Hogs Haven, our Redskins blog, took part in the competition and offered up the new nickname of the Washington Renegades.
There were 1,887 designs submitted by 347 designers. Some of the other name suggestions included Redtails, which took home honorable mention in the contest, as well as the Americans, Senators and Warriors.
Earlier in the week, the Redskins released a statement responding to President Obama’s comments, citing a recent national survey which said eight out of 10 Americans did not feel the franchise should change its name.
