Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks WR could return vs. Rams in Week 8

The Seahawks receiver is apparently ahead of schedule in his rehab from hip surgery.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin could potentially return to the field as soon as Week 8, according to a report from Jason La Canfora.

The Seahawks gave up a 2013 first-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings back in March for Harvin, then made him the third-highest paid receiver in the NFL once he arrived. Before he ever saw a snap in a Vikings jersey, however, Harvin suffered a torn labrum and had to undergo major surgery early in training camp.

Early estimates had Harvin possibly returning by Week 12 at the earliest, Harvin appears to be well ahead of schedule and could certainly be back on the field after the Seahawks bye in Week 7. The veteran receiver is currently rehabbing in New York, with the team previously taking the stance they will be more than careful with not rushing Harvin before he’s ready.

“I can’t put my hand on a Bible as we speak and say, ‘Yeah, he’s going to play next week’,” said one source, according to La Canfora. “But there’s certainly a chance.”

Harvin had 62 receptions for 677 yards and three touchdowns in just eight games in 2012 for the Vikings.
