Teams have adopted more sophisticated systems & schemes for protection, offensive linemen are bigger and more athletic, offenses are spreading things out and the quarterback position seems to be slowly evolving to feature more agile athletes capable of getting out of the way of oncoming defenders with their legs.
Regardless, the NFL will always be a pocket-passing league. Â Thus, finding pass rushers will always be a top priority for NFL GMs. In the flat-cap era, most teams cannot afford to hoard a multitude of top-tier pass rushers because the best of them command hefty salaries.
