49ers vs. Jaguars 2013 odds: San Francisco heavily favored in London

The San Francisco 49ers are heavily favored to best the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a Week 8 matchup at Wembley Stadium in London. It's the second London game this season, and the Jaguars happen to be the "home" team this time around. The crowd however, should be in favor of the 49ers given their dominance in the '80s and '90s, when football made its first real surge into the market.

The odds are also in favor of San Francisco — in a big way. Jacksonville, at 0-7, has looked like the worst team in the NFL by a solid margin this season. San Francisco, on the other hand, is 5-2 and coming off a couple solid wins, and a dominating victory over the Tennessee Titans.

San Francisco opened as 16-point favorites for the matchup, and early in the week, the line was moving even further in their favor, with some top betting sites listing them as 17-point favorites. It’s possible real home-field advantage might have given Jacksonville a bit more credit in the odds, but then again, they don’t necessarily play better at home.

Either way, it’s going to be a tough one for Jacksonville to win. If you’re shameless in your support of the underdog, it’s worth noting that the 49ers have been susceptible to trap games in the past, but it’s not likely you’ll firmly see “bet on Jacksonville!” said at all this season.
