Panthers vs. Buccaneers 2013 odds: Carolina favored on the road

The Carolina Panthers are favored to best the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face off in Week 8's Thursday Night Football matchup. Carolina, at 3-3, is looking to extend a two-game winning streak by beating up on their winless (0-6) NFC South rivals. The game will be in Tampa Bay, but home-field advantage has done the Buccaneers little good thus far.

Tampa Bay has lost some close games, especially earlier in the season, but the Bucs haven’t looked all that competitive in their last two meetings. The games were decided by 11 and eight points, respectively, but neither game was winnable for the Buccaneers.

Carolina opened up as narrow 3-point favorites for this matchup, probably due to the home-field advantage enjoyed by the Buccaneers. However, the line moved further in Carolina’s favor throughout the week, with the Panthers being favored by as much as 7 points, according to OddsShark.

The over/under for the matchup is hovering right around 40 points. That total has gone under in four of Carolina’s last six games, and in 13 of Tampa Bay’s last 17 games.
