UPDATE: Pelissero later clarified his earlier tweet, stating that the team wasn’t meeting with any quarterback. The team was going to discuss its quarterback situation on Friday night.

The Cleveland Browns are expected to meet with veteran quarterback Tyler Thigpen, according to USA Today's Tom Pelissero.

The Browns are in desperate need for quarterback help after Brian Hoyer was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Hoyer was injured early in Thursday's game against the Buffalo Bills when he awkwardly slid to the ground and injured his knee. Hoyer had seemingly replaced Brandon Weeden as the starting quarterback with two strong performances against the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals, leading the Browns to two straight surprising victories.

Weeden, drafted in 2012, will likely move back to the starting spot after being injured early in the season.

Thigpen, a six-year NFL veteran, spent the past two seasons with the Buffalo Bills and started 11 games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2008, completing 54.8 percent of his passes for 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The veteran quarterback has seen limited action in the years since, and would likely become Weeden's backup along with Jason Campbell.
