EJ Manuel injury: Bills QB could miss up to 6 weeks

The Buffalo Bills quarterback suffered a sprained LCL on a hard tackle on Thursday.

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel could miss up to six weeks with a sprained LCL in his right knee, reports Ian Rapoport. Manuel underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed the scope of the damage, with coach Doug Marrone saying the quarterback could be out "a few weeks" and not giving much more detail.

Manuel was injured during the third quarter of Thursday's 37-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns when the mobile quarterback scrambled up the sideline for a first down only to take a direct shot to the knee on the tackle. Manuel would leave the game and would not return, with undrafted free agent quarterback Jeff Tuel looking shaky in his place.

The Bills could look for outside help at quarterback, especially if Manuel misses the six weeks that is being suggested. Manuel was completing 56.7 percent of his passes on the season with five touchdowns and three interceptions, along with 91 yards rushing, before his injury on Thursday.

The Browns also lost quarterback Brian Hoyer in the game, who will miss the rest of the season as he suffered a torn ACL on an awkward slide.
