NFL news roundup: Brandon Stokley released, Pat White to visit Bills and more

Brandon Stokely was released by the Baltimore Ravens, Pat White will visit the Buffalo Bills and more you may have missed from Saturday.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens released wide receiver Brandon Stokley on Saturday. The move cleared a roster spot for tight end Billy Bajema. Stokley joined the team in the offseason to help out with a depleted group of receivers, but hasn't done much since joining. He had nine catches for 79 yards in three games this season. At the time of release, he was dealing with a groin injury.

For more you might have missed from Saturday, read on:

White to work out with Bills

The Buffalo Bills will work out free agent quarterback Pat White on Monday. White was released by the Washington Redskins earlier this season when their kicker was injured. Prior to that, he spent two years out of football. He looked decent in preseason action this year and it might be a good idea for Buffalo after E.J. Manuel went down with an LCL sprain.

Gronkowski ruled out

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been ruled out for the team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Gronkowski is still recovering from offseason forearm and back surgeries. He's been practicing for some time now, but apparently needs another week to feel 100 percent and that he won't be risking re-injury.

Goodson to active roster

The New York Jets have promoted running back Mike Goodson to the active roster. Goodson was on the reserve/suspended list due to offseason issues. He was suspended for the first four games for substance abuse violation, and missed all of training camp and preseason. The Jets could definitely use some help at the running back position, and Goodson should provide it.

Jackson ruled out

Atlanta Falcons running back Steven Jackson was ruled out for the team's Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Jets. Jackson is dealing with a hamstring injury suffered in a Week 2 win over the St. Louis Rams. The Falcons have a bye week after this game, so it seems likely Jackson will be able to get back to practicing this week and should return following the bye week.
