Former New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour says that he is interested in possibly playing for a "contending" team this season, according to report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.
Richard Seymour open to playing for ‘contending team’
The veteran defensive lineman says he’s open to signing with a contending team this season.

The 33-year old defensive lineman spent the past four seasons with the Raiders after being traded to Oakland from New England following eight seasons with the Patriots. Seymour was productive in Oakland, with 19 sacks in four seasons. The former All-Pro and 12-year veteran has 57.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions for his career.
Seymour signed a two-year, $30 million contract with Oakland in 2011 and it is believed his asking price this past offseason was too much for teams interested in the veteran lineman. Several teams, including the 49ers, Falcons and Lions, have shown interest but are no longer pursuing Seymour, according to La Canfora.
Seymour stated this week that he has no interest in returning to the Patriots, who placed Vince Wilfork on injured reserve, but that he would be open to signing with a contending team by Week 10.
