AFC playoff picture: Bengals, Ravens in AFC North showdown

The Bengals can build a commanding lead in the division with a win on Sunday over the Ravens.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

With the season just past the halfway point in 2013, the playoff picture in both conferences is starting to come into focus. Sunday features a number of big games with postseason implications, so here is a closer look at the bigger matchups of the day.

Cincinnati Bengals (6-3) vs. Baltimore Ravens (3-5), 1 p.m. ET

The Ravens are still suffering from a bit of a Super Bowl hangover, it seems, dropping three straight games while the offense struggles, to fall out of the AFC playoff picture. The Bengals, meanwhile, dropped their first contest in five games with last week's loss to the Dolphins yet maintain their lead in the AFC North and could use today's divisional game to further widen the gap.

St. Louis Rams (3-6) vs. Indianapolis Colts (6-2), 1 p.m. ET

The Colts have a solid two-game lead in the division over the Titans and face a Rams team on Sunday that has struggled significantly for most of this season. The AFC South has been a surprisingly weak division this season and the Colts have taken advantage and have another prime opportunity against St. Louis.

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-8) vs. Tennessee Titans (4-4), 1 p.m. ET

For a team hoping to fight their way into the final spot in the AFC postseason, the Titans couldn’t have asked for a better chance on Sunday. Facing the winless Jaguars, the Titans aim to continue to rebound from their three-game skid and build off a big win over the Rams last week.

Denver Broncos (7-1) vs. San Diego Chargers (4-4), 4:25 p.m. ET

The Broncos are coming off the bye week on a mission and the Chargers, who lost in overtime to the Redskins last week, could be their next victim in the battle for the top spot in the conference. San Diego still has an outside shot at the postseason, if only for that final wild card spot, but a loss to Denver could seriously derail those chances.
