Sunday’s game between the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers is living up to its lofty billing.

Neither Cam Newton nor Colin Kaepernick is dominating, as each team's defense is ensuring a low-scoring affair. The teams have combined for just 216 yards of offense at halftime, with dominant pass rushing resulting in a total of four sacks.
Frank Gore is the first-half MVP, in the midst of a successful day running against the No. 2 run defense in the NFL. He has rushed for 61 yards on 12 attempts, including a 17-yard run that helped set up the first of three field goals.
It appeared San Francisco would carry a nine-point lead into the half, but Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams kept the game close with a 27-yard touchdown run that narrowed the lead with under two minutes to play.
