NFL roundup: Russell Okung activated, Matt McGloin to start and more

Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Russell Okung was activated from injured reserve on Saturday. Okung is the team's starting left tackle, but sustained a ligament tear in his toe in September. He was placed on short-term injured reserve, and will now count against the 53-man roster. As to when he can actually make his return, it would make sense to assume that it's soon given that he has actually been activated. Still the, 9-1 Seahawks face the struggling Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 and can afford to give Okung another week off.

The Oakland Raiders will start Matt McGloin at quarterback in Week 11 against the Houston Texans on Sunday. McGloin, an undrafted rookie, will be starting in place of Terrelle Pryor, who is dealing with a knee injury. Pryor's primary offensive weapon is his ability to run the ball, so he would have been extremely ineffective playing on an injured knee. McGloin took first-team reps at practice and will face a Texans team that has struggled this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars inside linebacker Paul Posluszny has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Posluszny sustained a concussion during the team's Week 10 win over the Tennessee Titans, and did not practice at all this week. He was unable to pass all of the tests required to play, including the final test on Saturday, hence him being ruled out ahead of the gameday inactive list.

Detroit Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah is not expected to play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ansah sustained a high ankle sprain against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8, and hasn't been able to play since then. It's unclear when he'll be able to return to the lineup. Ansah was a first-round pick in this year's NFL Draft.

New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, a rookie taken in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, thinks he's the top player in the league. He said as much when asked about Muhammad Wilkerson, who is having a monster year himself. Richardson said that he thinks he's better than Wilkerson, who happens to be one of his teammates. Confidence is definitely a good thing, though Richardson clearly isn't quite there yet.
