Mike Pouncey injury: Dolphins center out vs. Chargers

The Dolphins center spent some time in the hospital this weekend with an illness, and he will not play on Sunday against the Chargers.

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey will not play on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, despite earlier reports that he was expected to be healthy enough to take the field.

Pouncey missed practice on Friday and was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, with reports stating that the center was expected to play after dealing with what was described as a “minor medical issue.” Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network, however, reported that kidney and gallbladder issues were severe enough to land Pouncey in the hospital over the weekend and expressed skepticism on whether he would actually be able to play.

The absence of Pouncey adds another deep hole on the Dolphins offensive line, who are already without Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito and Will Yeatman. It is not known who exactly would replace Pouncey at center, with so many other holes on the offensive line already being filled. Nate Garner could slide over, with reserve guards Dallas Thomas or Danny Watkins then filling in.
