As pretty much everyone in the NFL knows, Steve Smith is not to be trifled with, and Aqib Talib went at the veteran Panthers wideout early on Monday Night Football.
Steve Smith, Aqib Talib fight early on Monday Night Football
It didn’t take long for Steve Smith to mix it up with Aqib Talib on a MNF.
Talib and Smith battled twice a year when the corner was with the Buccaneers and there's a little bit of history there. So as soon as Smith pulled in his second catch of the night, and enthusiastically popped up to celebrate a first down, Talib went for a little extra after the whistle to keep him down:
The last time a corner messed with Smith, the wideout spent the rest of the day trying to humiliate Janoris Jenkins, both on the field during the game and talking to the press afterwards. Smith said if he saw Jenkins "in the streets, he'd punch him in his f--king mouth."
Here’s hoping we get some more of those trademark Smith fireworks for the rest of MNF, because he’s one of the best quote-meisters and trash talkers we have.
Update: And it didn’t take long for the duo to deliver some more, as the two went at it after the whistle upon their next meeting:
Talib was flagged 15 yards on the first confrontation, but got away unscathed on the second.
