Gerald McCoy says comments on helping up opponents out of context
The Bucs defensive tackle is upset with recent reports related to comments made on his weekly radio show.

McCoy appeared on his weekly radio show earlier this week and stated that one of his coaches got upset with him when he helped an opponent off the ground. The star defensive tackle said he felt differently than his coaches and that he’ll continue to helping up opponents. Subsequent reports on his statements then attacked the sportsmanship of the Buccaneers coaching staff, with McCoy stating his comments were grossly misinterpreted.
”Yes, I’m very angry about being misquoted and saying that my coaches yelled at me. None of my coaches are bad guys and they’ve never done anything negative towards me. So, that’s nonsense for someone to go write that I got yelled at.
“I never said that. They didn’t get on me. They felt one way and I felt a different way. That’s all it was. You don’t always feel the same way someone else feels. It’s personal preference. But we didn’t have an argument.”
The Buccaneers and head coach Greg Schiano have been under fire all season long, suffering bad loss after bad loss en route to a 0-7 record. The coach's poor relationship with Josh Freeman led to the departure of the starting quarterback, while rookie Mike Glennon struggled in his place.
