Steelers vs. Browns 2013 odds and lines: Cleveland the narrow favorite at home

The Cleveland Browns are favored to take the No. 2 spot in the AFC North from the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns will face off Sunday in a matchup that will determine second place within the AFC North in Week 12. Cleveland (4-6) is returning home after a brutal loss to the division-leading Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) in Week 11. The Steelers (4-6) just notched a surprising 37-27 victory over the Detroit Lions at home in their most recent outing.

This will be the first of two meetings between the rivals, and they won’t meet again until Week 17. The division could look a lot different at that point, but this game is plenty important. It’s a pretty even matchup on paper, and the odds line up with that assessment, too.

Cleveland opened as 2.5-point favorites for the matchup, according to OddsShark. That line did narrow throughout the week, with some sites having the Browns favored by as little as 1 point while others offer them at 1.5 points. It’s likely that oddsmakers view these two teams as being very evenly matched, and that Cleveland is getting the narrow nod due to home-field advantage.

The over/under for the matchup opened at 41.5 points and hasn’t moved much. That total has gone under in four of Pittsburgh’s last six games and over in four of Cleveland’s last six.
