Cleveland Browns receiver Jordan Cameron says it's been the attention of opposing defenses rather issues with starting quarterback Jason Campbell that has slowed him down in recent weeks, according to May Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns receiver says that opposing defenses have slowed him down in recent weeks, and his relatively poor perfomance has nothing to do with the starting quarterback.

“I need to speed things up and I need to find a way to get open,” said Cameron. “I need to try to get in there and do more. I need to step up and make plays and do whatever I can to help this team. That’s my goal.”
The third-year receiver was enjoying a breakout season in 2013, but has seen his production drop significantly the past two weeks with new starting quarterback Jason Campbell targeting Cameron just 18 times over the past three games. Cameron, who had 45 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns over the first seven games of the season, has just seven catches for 33 yards the past two games.
Cameron, who had been emerging as a big-play threat for the offensively-challenged Browns this season, says that defenses are rolling coverage his way and are now limiting his effectiveness downfield. The young receiver says it’s his job to work harder and beat the coverage and that he’s not worried about chemistry with the starting quarterback.
“I don’t think it’s Jason at all,” Cameron said. “They’re jamming you at the line and then there’s someone hitting you at the second level, so it’s just harder chemistry with the route. The timing is a little off.”
The Browns are now 1-2 since Campbell took over as starter and next face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.
