Tom Brady, Peyton Manning headline historic Patriots-Broncos game

Two of the top quarterbacks of all time square off on Sunday night.

Jared Wickerham

Sunday's meeting between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos is not just a battle between two of the top teams in the AFC, but it is also a historic showdown between two of the best quarterbacks to ever take the field in the NFL.

Tom Brady's
and Peyton Manning's combined 306 career wins will be the most ever by opposing quarterbacks in one game, but that statistic just a taste of how impressive the combined numbers of the two future Hall of Famers truly are:

Passing Yards: 110,417
Touchdowns: 818
Interceptions: 345
Completions: 9,389
Attempts: 14,540
Comp. percentage: 64.6%
Combined record: 306-113-0

Brady and Manning have also combined for some of the most memorable postseason matchups of the past 15 years, with Brady's Patriots usually getting the upper hand on Manning and the Colts. The elder Manning has been the most dominant quarterback of the time, however, and leads every passing category among active quarterbacks and most by a significant margin.

Manning’s 63,059 career passing yards sits on top of the list of active quarterbacks with Drew Brees (49,566) and Brady (47,358) sitting No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The next on the list, Matt Hasselbeck, sits nearly 20,000 career yards behind Manning with 34,622. Manning’s career touchdown passes (470) and Brady’s (358) also dwarf those below them on the active list, with Eli Manning (223) and Philip Rivers (208) the closest among active quarterbacks.

The Broncos (9-1) and the Patriots (7-3) are fighting with the 9-1 Kansas City Chiefs for the top spots in the conference and home-field advantage in the postseason. A win by Denver would help them cement their dominant hold on the AFC. After stumbling against the 7-2 Colts in Week 7, the Broncos and Manning have rattled off three straight wins.

Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET with coverage on NBC.
