Mike Shanahan denies report that RGIII asked team not to show bad plays

The Redskins coach is denying more reports of dissension in the Redskins locker room.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is denying a report that Robert Griffin III asked coaches to not show his bad plays during film review, according to team reporter Grant Paulsen.

Mike Silver of the NFL Network turned heads on Sunday morning when he reported that Griffin has asked the Redskins to not show his bad plays during team meetings, similar to an arrangement he enjoyed while at Baylor. Silver also reported that Griffin has an "insecurity" when it comes to backup quarterback Kirk Cousins, which contributed to his perceived rushed comeback from an ACL injury earlier this season.

Griffin was electrifying in his rookie season in the NFL, throwing for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions, on top of 815 yards rushing and seven rushing touchdowns, while leading the Redskins to the NFC East title and a postseason berth. His second season hasn’t been as easy, however, as he’s completed just 59.7 percent of his passes while tossing ten interceptions and appearing to be much less dangerous when in the open field.

Reports have surfaced in recent weeks that Griffin has been unhappy with the offensive gameplan set forth by the team’s coaches, with the quarterback and his head coach reportedly meeting to “clear the air” this past week.

The Redskins are just 3-7 on the season and face the San Francisco 49ers this week on Monday Night Football.
