Chargers vs. Redskins 2013 results: Washington wins in overtime, 30-24

Robert Griffin III wasn’t asked to do too much, as the Redskins quarterback picked apart a porous Chargers defense to win in overtime.

The Washington Redskins' playoff hopes remain alive after a 30-24 overtime victory against the San Diego Chargers. A weak NFC East sets up a fascinating second half to the season where Washington can build off its second win in three weeks to make an unlikely push.

Robert Griffin III wasn't asked to shoulder the burden alone, getting a huge lift from the rest of his offense. First-half struggles from both teams turned Sunday's game into a battle of consistency, where the more conservative Redskins picked apart the Chargers defense. The ground game was too much for San Diego, as the Redskins ran for a combined 209 yards, and three touchdowns from fullback Darrel Young were the difference.

Consistency was hard to come by for San Diego. Their game on offense was inverse to Washington, as the Chargers managed just 34 yards from Ryan Mathews and Philip Rivers couldn't generate enough down field passing to mitigate the team's struggles on third down. The lack of running resulted in a 33 percent third-down conversion rate, while defensively San Diego allowed the Redskins to convert 66 percent of their attempts.

Fantasy studs and duds

Pierre Garcon had a huge receiving day just one week after criticizing the Redskins' passing game. He finished with 155 yards on six catches.

Rookie receiver Keenan Allen was extremely effective for the Chargers, as he totaled 128 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Did they cover?

The Washington Redskins were one-point favorites, according to OddsShark. Their narrow win means they covered the spread.
