Cam Newton entered Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons riding a stellar run that saw the Panthers quarterback complete 77 percent of his passes without committing a turnover in three games. Through one half Sunday, the Panthers lead the Falcons, 14-10, but their quarterback has cooled off a bit.
Cam Newton inconsistent in first half vs. Falcons
The Carolina Panthers carry a small lead, but Superman hasn’t been the Man of Steel.

Newton recorded 133 yards and a touchdown in the first half, but threw two poor interceptions when misjudging coverage on deep passes. The second was more damaging, as Carolina had a chance to extend its lead on a late field goal, but he didn't put enough velocity on a throw away, lofting the pass into the hands of Robert Alford.
Running the ball hasn’t gone well for Newton on Sunday. In the past he’s had some of his biggest ground games against the Falcons defense, but on Sunday he has carried the ball twice for no gain. Atlanta is doing a good job of bringing a lot of pressure in blitz packages and the Panthers offensive line has been unable to deal with the rushers.
Carolina holds a narrow lead and will receive the ball first in the second half, but needs to settle down on offense and re-assert its ground game after leaving the door wide open for Atlanta.
