Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had to sit out the first six games of the season with an injury, but he's wasting no time in making up ground on the leaderboards. Gronkowski is having a banner day against the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching seven passes for 119 yards and a touchdown and it is only midway through the second quarter.
Rob Gronkowski scores 1st touchdown of year
The Patriots tight end caught his 39th career touchdown from Tom Brady, tied with Randy Moss for the most ever.
Gronkowski caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the second quarter, his first of the year, and the Patriots currently lead, 14-3. It was the 39th touchdown that Gronkowski has caught from Brady, and he is now tied with Randy Moss for the most-ever touchdowns caught from the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
He came into the game with 10 catches for 141 yards and at this pace, it might not be long before Gronkowski is the team leader in yardage once again. He played in just 11 games last season but had 55 catches for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns.
It just wasn’t the same NFL without Gronkowski’s signature spike-after-touchdown celebration.
