Richie Incognito suspended indefinitely by Dolphins

Miami’s offensive guard will be out indefinitely following his suspension by the Dolphins.

The curious case surrounding Jonathan Martin's absence from the Dolphins has taken another turn. Head coach Joe Philbin has informed offensive guard Richie Incognito that he will be suspended indefinitely by the Dolphins, according to NFL Media's Jeff Darlington. The suspension of Incognito comes just hours after Martin issued a formal complaint against the organization, in which he accused the team of having "player misconduct."

Martin left the team on Monday due to what has been described as an “abusive environment.” Several reports indicated that Incognito was a large part of that environment and that Martin was afraid to speak out due to a potential backlash from the veteran. The Dolphins released a statement that explained that any potential bullying was based on speculation. This led to Incognito asking for a public apology from reporters after he felt that he was cleared by the team of being involved in any wrongdoing.

Incognito has been with the Dolphins since 2010 and made his first Pro Bowl last season during Philbin’s first year as head coach.
