NFL roundup: Seahawks WR Percy Harvin suffers setback, Broncos DT Derek Wolfe out with illness

The health statuses of Percy Harvin and Derek Wolfe are making headlines on Saturday.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks could be without Percy Harvin in their huge Week 13 game against the New Orleans Saints. The oft-injured pass catcher has suffered a setback in his recovery from hip surgery and his status for Monday night is doubtful, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Harvin is scheduled to meet with doctors on Saturday.

The former Florida Gator made his Seahawks debut in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings, Harvin's former team. In the game, Harvin had a 17-yard catch and a 58-yard kick return. His likely absence will mean more work for wide receivers Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin, along with fewer options for quarterback Russell Wilson.

Derek Wolfe injury: Broncos DE ruled out vs. Chiefs Sunday

The Denver Broncos will be without a starting defensive lineman on Sunday. Defensive end Derek Wolfe will miss the game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an illness, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. The ailment kept Wolfe from traveling with the team.

Wolfe was taken to the hospital for testing but the illness is currently unknown. The second-year pass rusher has started all 11 games this season for the Broncos and has produced 16 tackles, four sacks and two fumble recoveries. Former first-round pick Robert Ayers and Malik Jackson are expected to fill Wolfe's spot against Kansas City.

Fernando Velasco injury: Steelers center placed on IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to start a third center this season after a season-ending injury to Fernando Velasco. Maurkice Pouncey's replacement suffered an Achilles injury against the Ravens, and that has forced the Steelers to place him on injured reserve, according to NFL.com. Velasco was signed shortly after Pouncey's knee injury on Week 1.

The Steelers will now move forward with Cody Wallace. The journeyman has played in only 14 games in his entire four-year career.

Lions likely to stick with kicker David Akers despite missed attempts

The Detroit Lions plan on working out kickers next week but are likely to stick with veteran David Akers, according to the Detroit Free Press. Akers missed his fifth kick of the season when he botched a 31-yard attempt on Thanksgiving in a 40-10 win over the Packers. The former Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers kicker is 15-of-20 this season on field goal attempts and has had two of those blocked.

The Lions could likely use a kicker that can perform kickoffs, as punter Sam Martin has handled those duties this year. Akers is currently on a one-year deal.
